With rapid technological advancements, demand for highly skilled professionals in the field is increasing. Our Devon & Somerset Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) has been put in place to help fill those skills gaps and sustain UK businesses’ growth and competitiveness in the global market.
In today’s digital world, data is a valuable asset for businesses. It is therefore important to take steps to protect it from unauthorised access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction.
BIT Training information security skills boot camp is funded by the Department for Education, incorporating the British Computer Society (BCS) Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP).
This certificate provides participants with the foundation knowledge they need as part of their day-to-day information security responsibilities and covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Information risk
- Disaster recovery and business continuity management
- Comprehension of the relevant current national and international standards, frameworks and organisations that facilitate the management of information security.
The skills bootcamp starts on 19 June and runs online over 10 weeks, with four hours of tutor-led sessions (one two-hour session every Tuesday and one two-hour session every Thursday).
Courses will be delivered by experienced information security professionals who are passionate about helping businesses protect their data.

To be eligible you must be:
- Aged 19 or over
- A resident in Devon or Cornwall
- Employed, unemployed or underemployed
- Be able to commit to the full 10 weeks
